Build global scale software. Build a truly special company.

Our mission

Cloudsmith is scaling up and on a mission to build a category-defining product. We're building an incredible company. Join our team.

Who we are

We're a Belfast headquartered, remote-first team building massive-scale software. We're well-funded, growing quickly, and rapidly gaining traction with large enterprises.

Our mission

Software is increasingly assembled from pre-made dependencies, and largely built by AI agents. We give developers and AI agents a single, controllable source for all their dependencies with end-to-end audit trail. We're an indispensable component of the AI-driven software development lifecycle.

How you can help

We're looking for people ready to push what the cloud can do at scale. We need people who can define the future of a winning product, and others to help us shape a multi-billion dollar company. We're just getting started. It's all to play for. We need the best people.

Our journey

The Cloudsmith Story

2016

Where the journey started

Two founders, one big ambition

Cloudsmith began with Alan and Lee, who shared a vision of making software distribution simpler, safer and more reliable. They saw an opportunity to solve a growing challenge for software teams and build something better.

What started as an idea became the foundation of Cloudsmith, driven by curiosity, determination and a belief in what was possible. Their founding vision continues to shape who we are, the Tao of Cloudsmith, and where we’re going next.

Joining the Ignite Accelerator

Turning an idea into a business

Joining the Ignite Accelerator marked an important step in our journey. It gave us the opportunity to develop our vision, challenge our assumptions and begin turning an ambitious idea into a business with real potential.

It was an early lesson in what it takes to build a company: curiosity, resilience and a willingness to learn quickly. These qualities helped establish the culture we continue to build on today.

Ready for enterprise

Building for the world’s most demanding teams

As our ambitions grew, we focused on making Cloudsmith ready for the needs of enterprise customers. That meant developing a platform that organisations could rely on as their software operations became more complex and their security requirements more demanding.

This stage challenged us to think bigger, build stronger foundations and raise our standards. It helped shape Cloudsmith into a platform designed to support organisations at scale.

Welcoming Kong

Kong keeps the Internet connected with Cloudsmith distribution

Kong is a full lifecycle API management company that’s become the backbone of cloud connectivity for some of the world’s biggest brands. Trusted by companies like PayPal, GSK, NASDAQ, and Wayfair to connect their software and services to people online, Kong’s suite of products are indispensable in their clients’ transitions from monolithic applications to distributed, cloud-native microservices architectures.

Welcoming Kong proved Cloudsmith could shoulder the immense responsibility of keeping critical internet infrastructure running. With their software powering connectivity for global giants, any distribution delay could mean millions lost for downstream customers. By replacing a brittle, self-hosted Pulp setup with Cloudsmith's fully managed platform, Kong eliminated multi-day downtime, unlocked six-figure operational savings, and achieved zero outages, proving that when modern engineering teams need an effortless distribution platform at global scale, Cloudsmith delivers.

What's next for Cloudsmith

Bigger ambitions, bigger opportunities

We’re continuing to grow, with our sights set on becoming a leader in the software supply chain market. As we expand our team, technology and global reach, we’re looking for the best people to join our team.

We’ve come a long way, but we’re only getting started. The next chapter is about thinking bigger, moving faster and bringing the right people together to help shape the future of Cloudsmith.
Our values

The Tao of Cloudsmith

Our values shape more than just what we do - they guide how we think, collaborate, and make decisions every day. Explore the principles that define who we are, how we work together, and what it means to be part of a team building something special.

Tao of Cloudsmith

Honesty and Transparency

Hide nothing, then there is nothing to hide

Openness and honesty are fundamental to building trust with customers and within the team. Cloudsmith aims to communicate clearly about what is happening and keep people informed rather than obscuring information behind selective statistics or messaging.

Automate Everything

If it can be automated, it should be automated

Manual, repetitive tasks should be automated wherever possible, written once and versioned, atomic, and reliably repeatable. Automation lets Cloudsmith scale beyond human capacity, reduce errors, and move faster.

Cloud Capabilities

Be elastic; leverage the capability of the cloud

The elasticity, flexibility, and scalability of the cloud make it possible to deliver a service beyond what traditional infrastructure allows. Designing for the cloud from day one lets Cloudsmith exploit its advantages and help customers do the same.

Collective Ownership

Everything is permitted, nothing is exclusive

Responsibility and ownership are shared equally across the team, with no concept of sole ownership. Anyone can change any part of the product for the greater good, backed by peer review, continuous integration, testing, and customer feedback.

Customer Collaboration

Give customers a voice and make sure we listen

Involving customers early and often ensures Cloudsmith builds the right software. Giving them an active voice in product direction limits scope creep and makes sure features do what they say on the tin, and do it well.

Just Better

Better trained, better equipped, better … just better!

Borrowed from Red Dwarf, this principle is born of aspiration, not arrogance. Everything can be improved, good enough is never simply good enough, and there is no best, just better.

Sustainable Pace

A sustainable pace establishes a sustainable service

People do their best, most creative work when fully rested. Better planning, practices, and testing minimize overtime culture, so no one is asked to work more than required or treated as a disposable resource.

Pragmatic Programming

Perfection is the enemy of good; practicality first, perfection later

Every problem is approached with a practical mindset while still caring deeply about craftsmanship. Cloudsmith keeps learning new techniques and tools, values admitting when it is wrong, and takes customer happiness seriously.
