Private Broadcasts are now generally available

Private Broadcasts lets you put your brand front and center throughout the entire distribution experience, distributing software securely to your partners, customers and internal users through your own branded portal. Full customization and built-in analytics give you control over the experience and visibility into adoption, while entitlement tokens keep access tightly managed, so your software reaches exactly the right people.

Key benefits

  • Secure, authenticated distribution: Packages are accessible only to users with a valid entitlement token, with no public access. Tokens provide fine-grained, read-only access via native tooling, so developers can pull packages through their existing CLI, CI/CD pipelines, or package manager without any workflow changes.
  • Manage access with precision: Creating a unique entitlement token per customer or partner gives administrators the ability to monitor individual download activity and revoke or modify access rights at any time, for example, when a customer's subscription changes.
  • Access links: Access links allow end users to authenticate without manually entering a token secret key. These direct links can be embedded into your own applications, enabling secure, frictionless access to your private broadcast from any context.
  • All the power of Cloudsmith Broadcasts, with added control: Whether you're distributing open source packages publicly or proprietary software to a controlled audience, Cloudsmith has you covered. Private Broadcasts include the same branding, analytics, and developer-friendly distribution experience as Public Broadcasts — custom domains, your logo and colors, native CLI and CI/CD integration, and built-in adoption analytics — with the added layer of authenticated access control.

Recent enhancements

Since the Early Access release, we've continued to improve Private Broadcasts based on customer feedback:

  • Package Groups support is now available, allowing you to batch packages by format and name. This makes it easier for end users to browse repositories containing packages with multiple versions. This enhancement also applies to Public Broadcasts.
  • Search syntax support for access links, so you can pre-filter the packages displayed to users when sharing a direct link. For example, you can scope an access link to show only Docker packages, giving your end users a more focused and relevant browsing experience.
