Client logs and usage improvements now generally available

Client logs and usage reporting improvements are now generally available in the new web application. These updates give you deeper visibility into package downloads, delivery trends and the repositories or tokens driving your usage.

What's new since Early Access

  • Client logs generally available in the new web application
  • Usage page improvements:
    • Delivery Summary table.
    • Advanced filtering on the Package Delivery chart.
  • The Packages, Container Images, and Open Source charts have all been removed from the Usage page, as this information is now available through the Package Delivery chart.

Client Logs show a detailed list of downloaded packages across your workspace.

This feature was previously available on cloudsmith.io, but we have added some new functionality to this release on our new web app:

  • Customers can view Client Logs across your entire workspace. Previously, they were only available to view on a specific repository.
  • You can now download your logs as a .csv. Downloads are limited to 500 log entries.
  • We have introduced new filtering capabilities, including package format, IP address, entitlement token, and repository.
  • With the new sparkline feature, you can spot spikes in usage and drill into them for further investigation.

Usage: Delivery summary

The Delivery Summary table shows a list of packages and repositories responsible for the most package delivery data over a given period of time. This table lets you quickly identify packages or repos that are causing spikes in your usage.

The Package Downloads chart offers some new ways to filter and view data. This includes:

  • The ability to adjust the intervals on your chart. This means you are no longer restricted to viewing data per day. If you want to look back at your package downloads over the last 12 months, you can now break it down by week or month.
  • The “group by” feature allows you to see which repositories, package formats, or entitlement tokens are responsible for the most downloads in a given time period.
  • You can now toggle between a graph and a table of logs directly from the Package Downloads section of Usage.
